International Reading Groups and Clubs

CANADA:

Squamish, BC – Our club moves from location to location depending on the book choosers preference. Usually a local restaurant in Squamish, BC. We read fiction/general, non-fiction, women’s fiction, YA. All genres allowed except horror and books on parenting! At present there are 8 of us in the group. The book chooser brings along 3 books for selection and then the rest of the group votes on what they want to read. I am aware of at least 4 other local groups. One uses the local library and we regularly battle with them to get books out. We choose to mix reading with a social evening and most local restaurants are happy to accommodate us. Email contact Sarah Saunders sarah73saunders@gmail.com

Vancouver – Call or visit this link for more info – meets monthly at Hastings Branch Library: https://vpl.bibliocommons.com/events/5669f194b2b3786365006a88

    Hi, Shari,

Patricia here. I haven’t signed in in a while, but for some reasons, I don’t see any spots on this map. Am I doing something incorrectly?

    Thanks

Shari, is the book club list available in a format we can easily put into our own database without having to copy and paste each one from yours? Perhaps Excel? And no, I’m not planning to send a mass mailing. I personalize every note I send out. That’s the only way to do it. But you can imagine, it would still be super time saving to have the list. Thanks!

Hi Kimberli! Thanks for weighing in and no, it’s not, for the very reasons you state. Because each book club has very graciously given us their parameters and contact info, we really want authors to take this state by state, choosing only the best choices for their work. And while you certainly wouldn’t mass mail – you can appreciate that not all authors are as savvy, about mass mailing and/or indiscriminately sharing files 🙂 That’s not to say it won’t change in the future – we’re open to doing the best we can for you!

Yes there are! I just added a few last week. There aren’t a lot, but an article I read last week would indicate that there is growing interest and we’re hunting/adding new book clubs every day.
