First, our thoughts and prayers go out to all our authors, readers, family and friends affected by Hurricane Matthew. It had been our intent to use this “Love Your Library” installment to also report on the Indie Author Day we were participating in Saturday, October 8, at our own local Charleston library. Due to the storm and evacuations, this wasn’t possible.
Despite many cancellations in North and South Carolina, nearly 300 Indie Author Day library celebrations did take place at libraries across the country and Where Writers Win was proud to be just one of dozens of sponsors.
So instead, we’re sharing a special video presentation from that day. Whether you’re new to the writing world or are a literary veteran, you know that there is much to be learned from people from all across the industry. For the first time in a global panel presentation, leaders from the literary technology world, a librarian, a leader in review publications, publishing experts and writers all came together to offer inspiration and advice.
This virtual panel discussion featured Robin Cutter (Director of IngramSpark), Jon Fine (Former Director of Author and Publisher Relations at Amazon), Allie McKinney Bibliolabs and Self-E), L. Penelope (author, lpenelope.com), and Jim Blanton (Director of Louisville Free Public Library). The panel was organized by BiblioBoard, Self-E, and Library Journal; presented via live stream YouTube broadcast.
