About The Midlist
The Midlist was created in December 2013 as a project of Libboo, Inc. Their mission: “To ensure that readers have an easy way to discover great books by talented authors who are bestseller-quality, even if they haven’t broken through the ranks to be a bestseller yet.”
The Midlist was born from asking the question: How do we introduce talented authors that have not yet broken through to the mainstream of readers? The Midlist is a daily free and discount eBook email featuring talented authors who we believe produce books that are bestseller quality, even if those books aren’t necessarily bestsellers on the charts yet. Readers can now expect to discover talented authors every day when subscribed to The Midlist newsletter.
Say Midlist on their website, “It’s time for the publishing industry to take a step forward and support great talent and content, no matter the origin—traditionally or independently published. We believe the reader will lead this movement by supporting talented authors and reading books they find on The Midlist.”
How to Get Your Book on Midlist
Midlist accepts submissions from authors interested in having their titles, which are discounted or available for free on Amazon, to be featured on The Midlist. You may submit your request at Submit page. Please complete the form on that page.
Sending in a request does not guarantee that your title will be selected to feature on the daily newsletter. If your title is selected, they’ll notify you in advance of your feature. Midlist also requests that you also help share your feature with fans and followers. (It’s free to readers!)
Authors who are selected for The Midlist do not pay to be included. Authors who are featured on The Midlist haven’t paid to have their titles included in the daily newsletter, and are in the newsletter based on the quality of their work.
Midlist titles are selected via “a combination of technology and human effort.” They curate many of the books themselves, and also feature books by authors who have submitted to them. “The Midlist features authors that we believe produce works that are bestseller quality – even if they haven’t broken out into the mainstream yet. We select titles based on a combination of literary merit, reader activity around the title, and social brand engagement around the author.”
