Ah, where DOES the time go? After an incredibly busy spring/summer and events in Columbia, New York, Chicago and Atlanta, we’re already gearing up for what promises to be a busy, busy season with a stellar fall conference line-up for authors.
Why do we love festivals and conferences? For one, it’s a chance to meet fellow authors, and plenty of readers. Festivals offer authors exposure to thousands of readers. Conferences offer opportunities to speak, and to get a look at what’s hot; who’s selling, what agents and editors are seeking for their next great publishing deal. If you want to get connected to influencers, then writers conferences and book festivals are an energizing way to get to know your tribe.
Here’s the fall schedule of events we’re planning for – and we’ve arranged for special discounts for two of the upcoming writer’s conferences as well. We hope you can join us and celebrate writers and great writing…
September
Decatur Book Festival: One of the nation’s biggest book festivals takes place each Labor Day weekend, and that’s September 4-7, 2015. This year, as always, promises plenty of fun, with over 135 exhibitors and feature lectures and signings from more than 600 national and local authors, including award-winners, best-sellers, and some just getting started.
If you’re an author attending or speaking, tell us so we can be sure to stop by and see you! This event is free and open to the public.
SIBA15: The 40th anniversary of the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance promises to be an exciting conference for booksellers and authors, taking place in Raleigh, NC September 19-21, 2015. You must be a member or qualified author to attend.
Besides a great many talks by attending authors, many publishers will be on hand to offer their latest releases to booksellers from around the southeast.
Chanticleer Book Reviews Conference 2015: For our tribe towards the west, this year’s Chanticleer conference will take place at the Hotel Bellwether located in Bellingham, Washington September 26-29 at Squalicum Harbor on beautiful Bellingham Bay.
A variety of passes and programming are offered, and WWW tribe members reading this can take $100 off from the complete conference package using code 100WWWCAC15 – a 20% discount! We attended this event last year and are proud to return – a phenomenal group of exhibitors, authors and authors-to-be, in a setting that can’t be beat.
October
Southern Festival of Books: Centrally located in the downtown area of Nashville, Tennessee, this outstanding book festival, taking place October 9-11, 2015, features hundreds of authors and panels and the chance to stock up on books and bookish items galore.
Members of the WWW team make the annual mecca here to visit with a wealth of incredible authors, and this year is no exception. Again, free and open to the public: If you’ll be there, let us know!
Words & Music: This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of Words & Music, put on by the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society. Moving from its usual mid-November dates, the conference takes place October 29 – November 1 in sensual, spooky New Orleans. This year’s event will feature a costume ball on Halloween evening; participants are encouraged to come dressed as a favorite literary character!
WWW tribe members can enjoy $75 off the writer tuition. Besides a wealth of excellent panels with authors, editors and agents, registration includes sit-downs with both an agent and editor of your choice.
As you can see, we’ll be racking up some frequent flyer miles in this fall conference line-up… hope to see you on the road this fall!
